Breast Lift or Mastopexy

Our breast lift procedure can be achieved through various incision patterns and techniques.

The appropriate technique for you will be determined based on:

• Breast size and shape
• The size and position of your areolas
• The degree of breast sagging
• Skin quality and elasticity, as well as the amount of extra skin

Step 1 – Anaesthesia

All breast reductions are performed in theatre under general anaesthesia. Sometimes, a local anaesthetic block can be given to assist with post-operative pain.

Step 2 – The incision

There are three common incision patterns:

1. Around the nipple-areola complex
2. Around the areola and a scar and extending down from the nipple to the breast crease
3. Around the areola, extending down to the breast crease, meeting the horizontal scar in the breast crease

Step 3 – Reshaping your breasts

After Dr Ching makes the incisions:

• The underlying breast tissue is reshaped and lifted to improve breast firmness and contour.
• The nipple-areola complex is relocated to a more youthful, natural height.
• If required, large areolas are reduced in size by reducing their diameter at the periphery
• Extra breast skin is excised to offset elasticity loss.

Step 4 – Closing the incisions

Dr Ching will recommend the incisions that best suit your anatomy. The most appropriate incision will be used to obtain the best possible shape.

The skin is tightened as the incisions are closed after your breasts are reshaped, and excess skin is removed

Some scars resulting from breast lift are concealed in the natural breast crease; others are present on the breast surface. Scars are permanent but will fade and significantly improve over time.

Sutures are placed deep within the breast tissue to support and create the newly shaped breasts. Sutures and surgical tape are used to close the skin, and the patient is placed in a support bra the next day.

Step 5 – See the results

Breast lift results are immediately noticed, but the final outcome is apparent only after a few months once the swelling has settled.

During breast lift recovery, dressings are applied to the incisions after completing the procedure.

You’ll need to wear a support bra to reduce swelling and support your breasts as they heal.

Dr Ching generally does not insert drains after a breast lift operation which markedly reduces discomfort after the procedure

You will be given specific instructions on:

• When to return for your follow-up with Dr Ching.
• Specific problems to look for at the surgical site or in your general health
• How to look after your breasts after surgery
• Medication to take orally to aid healing, reduce swelling, and prevent infection

Your breast lift surgery results are visible immediately. It is essential to take things easy and avoid exercise, excessive force or motion during healing. Dr Ching will give you instructions on how to care for yourself.

Over time swelling will resolve, and the incision lines will fade. The final breast shape will appear over the next few months

Your breast lift surgery results will be long-lasting, but as time passes, your breasts will continue to change due to aging and gravity. You will  be able to retain your new look for  longer if you keep a healthy lifestyle and maintain your weight.
